Whiskey Dick (Eddie Crane, Matt Hawkins, and Garrett White) entertained the Rural Grit crowd throughout the evening with tunes that included banjos, fast and fancy pickin' and the humorous banter that ensues whenever Crane is on stage. An added feature of the night was Wyatt, standing guard at his father's legs. In addition, the Rural Grit All Star-- tonight's crew entailed: Mark Smeltzer, Kc Stanton, David Regnier, Cheri Woods, LVJ, Sam Zech and a few other irregulars who happened by. Next week: the Calamity Cubes and Adam Lee & the Dead Horse Company.

Duos, Trios, and Jubilee...
Duet & Trio Night at the Rural Grit Happy Hour always has a hidden gem. The evening started off with solo performances by Kc Stanton, Mark Smeltzer, LVJ, and David Regnier--always a treat as we waited for enough participating musicians to throw their name into the hat. Then the first round of Duets (musicians included: Kc, Mark, LVJ, David, Martha, Sam, Eddie and Lizbeth). By the second set of duets a few more names were added (Garrett, Andrea, Jacob, and Kasey). It also featured a great rendition of "Mud" by Kc and Mark. There were two Trio sets with one of the highlights being Kasey, Garrett and LVJ. Jubilee brought us Eddie crane leading "Good Ole' Mountain Dew" and then Mark with "High Stepping Country Girl". Thanks for the evening of craziness and fun folks. Hope to see you all next week when Jason Beers releases his Banjo/Saw CD!

April 20 Duets & Trios
Artists that choose to participate place their name in the hat. Duos are drawn; everyone goes off to their corners to practice something; after 5 minutes the musicians are called back to the stage and the performances begin. This crazy cycle repeats itself through out the night--building to a crazy jubilee at the end of the evening. It's always fun to see who's picked together. A great way for novices to cut some chops and for pros to relearn theirs.

Poetic, Honest, Bluesy, Rockin' Women
April 13, 2009--Can I just say, what another FABULOUS night at the Rural Grit Happy Hour Tonight! Four women singer-songwriters were featured--Cheri Woods, Abigail Henderson, Amy Farrand, and Kasey Rausch. Ladies and Gentlemen--honesty tumbled out of their lyrics and their voices carried their truths through the air! For me, each one of them is divine. I love listening to Cheri's verbiage coil its way through my brain. Abigail belts out music straight from her soul into yours. Amy has always been able to send shivers up my spine. Kasey leaves me laughing and crying at the same time.
In true Rural Grit style, tasty pallet cleansers "inbetween" each act was provided by Rural Grit All Stars--Kc, Mark, David, Garrett, Daniel and Sarah. The evening ended in Jubilee fashion with Humble and High Steppin' Country Girl. (and as a special treat, Noah was right in there singing, strummin' and stompin.)
In addition, we gathered a nice sum of money tonight to support our friends who are fighting breast cancer...gotta support the ta-tas folks!

RGHH April 6
What a packed evening--music and audience. Unfortunately some of our Rural Grit All Stars were on tour or sick or even both. Thank goodness Cletus Got Shot was there to fill time with some high energy fiddle, mandolin, gas tank bass, guitar and tight vocals. These boys made the room rock and brought the energy level up. Then the Rural Grit All Stars followed--Mark on Noah's Cello, Mark and Sam, Mark and Garrett and Cheri Woods. Howard Iceberg sang a few tunes with special guests, before throwing down the rest of the night with the Titanics. I saw folks rocking back and forth, tapping, swinging and swaying. Another great night at the Rural Grit Happy Hour.

Monday is a very special episode of the Electric Freakout because it is the celebration of the release of a solo cd from Ms. Betse Ellis.
That should have grabbed your attention. Betse Ellis fiddle playing international superstar has been hard at work on breaks between Wilder's adventures making a cd. I can tell you it sounds great!

The good ole' Banjo Ghost (Randy McCleary) came up out of his crypt and let the banjo rip tonight. His sainted mother was also present to view the festivities.
